Treat yourself to a journey down old San Antonio with traditional conjunto music played for you “fara-fara” style along with a savory Tex-Mex style meal fresh from Mi Tierra’s kitchen which is included with the performance.
Our experience will take place in the one of the beautiful private rooms of the historic and beautiful Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery which is situated in the Market Square plaza in downtown San Antonio— a tourist favorite destination on it’s own! Come ready to snap photos or take an opportunity to buy gifts form the local shops situated in and around Market Square after our experience.
During our experience we will cover the history of how early conjunto music was influenced by German and Polish immigrants to Texas in the 1800’s and how it was later molded into conjunto music by musicians form and around San Antonio. We will perform songs that both influenced the genre as well as play songs from the musical groups that pushed the genre forward. The songs will be performed live using authentic conjunto instruments: the diatonic button accordion, bajosexto, tololoche, and tarola.
We will also provide guests with photographs of important moments and people throughout the history of the genre as well as QR codes to song recordings available online for them to listen to after the experience.
This is a must-do for anyone interested in getting to know the authentic culture that makes San Antonio a favorite for tourist and beloved home for locals.
